Christmas inspiration

I can't believe how long it has been since I have posted to my blog. I would love to say that I will post more regularly, but somehow life seems to get in the way.
Here is a single page layout I created recently of my kids looking at their Magic Santa videos last Christmas. Hope is 6 and Hunter 10 in these pictures. I love the look of amazement on their faces.

Single Page Sunday

I hope you are not getting sick of my Disney pages. I have this Minnie Mouse layout for Single Page Sunday. I really liked how this turned out. I still haven't put the journaling on. I tend to do that alot with my layouts. Probably because I am always looking for the perfect words to say, keeping in mind that years from now someone is going to read what I write!

Hope you're having a great day!

Daily Dish

So I have come up with some titles for my daily dish.

Saturday - "Sketchy Saturday" will feature layouts made using a sketch.

Sunday - "Single Page Sunday" will feature single page layouts.

Monday - "Media Mondays" will feature a new website or blog that I discovered.

Tuesday - "Timeless Tuesdays" will feature some of my old scrapbook pages.

Wednesday - "Whatever Wednesday" will be whatever I feel like sharing.

Thursday - "Twin Thursday" will feature double page layouts.

Friday - "Friday Greetings" will feature a greeting card.

So in keeping with this schedule I have created for myself, for Sketch Saturday I have this layout to share with you.

I made this layout using a Page Maps sketch featured in Project 12 by Scrapbook and Cards Today. You can see the sketch here.

Thanks for stopping by.

My Mind's Eye

My Mom and I went to Scrap Fest in Oshawa last year. It was the first time I attended a Scrap Fest event and it was amazing. It was a huge room filled with everything scrapbook related. I was in heaven! There was so many vendors selling everything your little scrapbook heart could desire. While there I found some beautiful paper from My Mind's Eye. I have been following their blog and website ever since. They have a newsletter which can be seen here. I was impressed with their newsletter. It has layouts with all the materials they used and instructions on how to make the layout. Their blog also has sketches for cards and layouts.

I have been thinking about my blog and would like to have each day designated to something specific. For example, one day I would share a current layout, another day an older layout I made, another day a card and maybe one day I would introduce you to a scrapbook website that I like to visit. I will put the wheels in motion soon. Just got to think of some catchy names (I'm not good at stuff like that).

Thanks for visiting.

Chef Mickey

As promised, I have a Disney layout to share with you. The first is a double page layout of us and Mickey Mouse. We went to Chef Mickey the first night we arrived at Disney. I thought it would get us all in the spirit of Disney since we were not visiting a park that day. Having dinner at Chef Mickey was certainly one of the highlights of our trip. What was great was we got to see Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto and Donald, take pictures with them and the kids got autographs. And because we did all this, we didn't need to wait in line at the parks to meet these loveable characters. Even better, this was part of our meal plan. We had so much that evening and couldn't wait to see what the rest of Disney had in store for us. I made pages of Minnie, Donald, Goofy and Pluto as well, and will share them with you soon.

You must be getting sick of seeing the pages from my calendar. I have to take some pictures of the Disney layouts I have been working on, so that I can share them with you. But in the interest of keeping my blog going, the calendar it is.

The pciture is my cousin and his son. My Aunt was happy about this page, since these two never take a good picture. The paper is all from Die Cuts With a View, the Citrus Stack. The chipboard embellishments are from Colorbok, which I purchased from Michaels.

Most of my scrapbook pages are scraplifted or created using a sketch. This one was scraplifted from an advertisement for Imaginisce. The advertisement is below. I wanted to make a banner as in this picture, but I kind of ran out of room. Thanks for looking!

More Calendar

Here is another page from my Aunt's calendar. I forgot to mention the calendar is 8x8. I thought this size would be easy to work with, but I didn't take into consideration that a 4x6 photo would take up most of the page.

This page uses Bo Bunny paper. I really like their stuff. I made the flowers using a fan folding technique. The swirls I picked up at Walmart and "Family" is a rub-on I bought from the dollar store. The only problem was the rub-ons all stuck to the backing, so I wasn't able to use all of them. The picture is my daughter Hope and my cousin's daughter Olivia. It's a great picture of them. Overall it was an easy layout to make and I'm happy with how it turned out.

Another Calendar Page

Another page from my Aunt's calendar. This is a picture of my cousin Tricia and myself. Not the greatest picture of me. I used some Stampin' Up stamps to make this layout. I used Vintage Vogue and Define your Life. The flowers were stamped, cut out and popped up with foam squares. I don't normally use stamps on my layouts, but I'm happy with how this turned out. The paper is all Stampin' Up. I cut the scallop circle with my Cricut. Have I told you how much I love my Cricut?

Calendars

For Christmas 2007 I made a scrapbook calendar for my Aunt. This year she asked if I could change one page for her, which I was happy to do. The page had a picture of her daughter and her now ex-boyfriend (the reason for the change).

She bought a new blank calendar and was hoping to take the pages from the old calendar and put it on the new calendar. I was having none of that and gladly offered to make a new one.

Well, January is almost over, and I have finally finished it. I thought I would share a page with you. I love how this page turned out. The picture is my Aunt and her granddaughter, Brianna. I used my Cricut for the photo mat and the swirls. The scallop edge at the bottom is punched circles and the flowers were handmade using a flower from Quickutz.

And now a layout from the first calendar. Not my best work, that's for sure. It's amazing how my style has evolved over the years.

Friends

This daily posting thing is going to force me to create more. Which is good considering I am desperate to finish my Disney scrapbook. I hope to share some of those pages with you soon. We went to Disney for the first time last May and are heading there again in March. Can't wait, but would really like to have the pictures from the first trip all scrapped before going again.

To answer Pam's question, I don't typically put anything on the inside of the card. I have some sentiments that if suitable I will put inside. I have seen some people decorate the inside, which I love, but I find it makes the card too bulky, so I don't do much on the inside.

This is just a simple card I created. The butterflies are a die from Stampin' Up. I love these butterflies and use them quite often both in card making and my scrapbook pages. The swirl is from the Vintage Vogue stamp set and the sentiment is from Upsy Daisy. The patterned paper is from a Stampin' Up stack that was in one of their mini catalogues last year. This paper is actually one of my favourites from that stack (I have a thing for stripes). I hate using it, because once it's gone, there is no more left. I find it hard to part with my favourite scrapbook items!

Thanks for looking!

Two days in a row!

Another post! I really like how this card turned out. I cased this card here:

http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/1811470

I recently purchased En Francais, and couldn't wait to try it out. I gave this card to my friend Astrid in a set of cards given as a hostess set. I'm definitely going to make this again.

A New Year and new commitment

I promised myself I was going to pay more attention to my blog this year! So far, I have failed miserably.

Before Christmas, my friend Michelle asked me to make her some cards. Here is one of the cards I created for her. I'm sure I got the idea off of splitcoast, but can't be certain. It was sometime ago. I know I get alot of ideas and inspiration from that website.

I love this Cherry Cobbler colour from Stampin' Up and I'm using this embossing folder quite a bit. It really adds something to the card.

I am in the process of making a calendar for my Aunt. I feel bad that January is half over and I haven't finished it for her yet. I'm almost there and hopefully she'll be able to use it for at least the last week in January. I'll share some pictures of it with you later.

Thanks for looking!
